In March 2020, Ethical Reading and Reading Borough Council launched the Reading Ethical Recruitment Charter (RER Charter), providing ethically driven recruiters and recruiting managers with a great opportunity to walk the talk of their organisation’s commitments and values when recruiting employees, workers, contractors, interns and even volunteers. The Charter, alongside its guidelines is based on three pillars:
Respect, Transparency, Fairness.
Many local employers and recruitment agencies follow the law and best practice but there are still numerous accounts of unethical recruitment practices in the town of Reading including excessively long and unpaid training, lack of interview feedback, inaccurate or misleading job descriptions, unpaid trial shifts, and even companies using job applicants to work unpaid trial shifts with no intention of recruiting anyone.
Rapid Personnel is proud to be the first Industrial recruitment agency in Reading to sign the RER Charter. Our approach has always been, and will always remain transparent, fair and respectful.
We want to set the right example and we are hopeful that other recruitment businesses in Reading will follow our lead by committing to the highest of standards in ensuring everyone seeking employment is treated the right way.
